Anti-Inflammatory IV Therapy in NYC

Targeted intravenous therapy for musculoskeletal pain, autoimmune flares, and post-procedure recovery — at our Midtown Manhattan clinic. Sessions run 30-45 minutes and start at $400.

Who anti-inflammatory IV therapy is for

This protocol is most useful for patients with ongoing inflammatory pain that hasn't fully resolved with oral anti-inflammatories or physical therapy alone. Common reasons we administer it at our Manhattan clinic:

  • Chronic musculoskeletal pain — low-back pain, neck pain, hip or shoulder pain with an inflammatory component on imaging or exam
  • Autoimmune flares — rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and lupus flares (as an adjunct to standard immunosuppressive care, never as a substitute)
  • Post-procedure recovery — faster bounce-back after epidural steroid injections, radiofrequency ablation, or major dental/surgical procedures
  • Post-viral inflammatory syndromes — persistent fatigue and joint pain after a viral illness
  • Athletic recovery — delayed-onset muscle soreness, overtraining inflammation, pre-race preparation

What's in the bag

The standard Modal Pain anti-inflammatory formulation uses evidence-supported doses administered in a single 500 mL normal saline bag:

Component Typical dose What it does
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) 5-25 g (individualized) Potent antioxidant; reduces inflammatory cytokines
Magnesium sulfate 2 g Muscle relaxation; reduces nerve excitability
B-complex 1-2 mL Supports nerve function and cellular energy
B12 (hydroxocobalamin) 1 mg Neuroprotective; supports energy and mood
Glutathione (optional push) 1-2 g Master antioxidant; reduces oxidative stress

Vitamin C dosing is adjusted based on body weight and the indication. Patients receiving doses above 15 g are pre-screened for G6PD deficiency to rule out rare hemolysis risk.

What to expect at your appointment

  1. Intake (10 min): Quick review of medical history, current medications, and the target outcome. First-time patients complete a brief medical questionnaire.
  2. IV placement (5 min): A small catheter is placed in a forearm vein by our nursing staff.
  3. Infusion (30-45 min): You relax in a reclining chair during the infusion. Patients typically read, work on a laptop, or watch something.
  4. Post-infusion (5 min): Catheter is removed, brief observation, and you're out the door. No driving restrictions.

Who should not receive this infusion

Patients with advanced kidney disease, G6PD deficiency, hemochromatosis, or uncontrolled congestive heart failure may not be candidates. We screen for these conditions at intake. Pregnant and breastfeeding patients are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Frequently asked questions

What is an anti-inflammatory IV?

An anti-inflammatory IV is an intravenous infusion of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants formulated to reduce systemic inflammation. The standard bag contains high-dose vitamin C, magnesium sulfate, B-complex vitamins, and optional glutathione. Sessions run 30-45 minutes. At Modal Pain Management in NYC, pricing starts at $400.

How much does an anti-inflammatory IV cost in NYC?

At our Midtown Manhattan clinic, pricing starts at $400 for the standard bag and $500 with a glutathione push. Series pricing is available. No insurance required.

How long does it take to work?

Most patients report reduced pain and visible swelling reduction within 24-48 hours of a single infusion. For chronic inflammatory conditions, a series of 3-6 infusions spaced 1-2 weeks apart is typical.

Are there side effects?

Most patients tolerate the infusion well. Transient side effects can include mild flushing, a warm sensation at the IV site, or a brief metallic taste. Serious side effects are rare when administered by a qualified team.

Is anti-inflammatory IV therapy safe?

When administered in a supervised clinical setting by a physician-led team, yes. Modal Pain Management screens every patient for kidney function, G6PD status, and medication interactions before the first infusion.
